14th Annual Cranksgiving - Los Angeles


LABMA and the U-Lock-Mob Los Angeles Messengers proudly present our 14th Annual Cranksgiving  Benefit Race for PARA LOS NINOSCranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels. Part bike race, part food drive, part scavenger hunt, it has been held annually in Los Angeles since 2001.  Los Angeles is the second city hosting the longest running Cranksgiving.  New York City has been hosting Cranksgiving since 1999.  There is no entry fee.  The groceries that you purchase cover your entry fee, which includes a spoke card and a Cranksgiving T-Shirt.  $10-$15 should suffice to race.

Registration will start at 12:00 pm
Race is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm

BAG, LOCK & HELMET are MANDATORY
Manifests will be handed out day of event.

8th Annual DTLA Grand Prix (Summer Race Series) Crit#4

Last but not least, we present to you a brand new course....8 THE HARD WAY Crit.  It is pretty wild but manageable.  Mainly all right hand turns with two exceptions.  The course is just under 2 miles.

Many local/urban cyclist have used this series to test and strengthen their ability to move forward to CAT racing. If you want to make a name for yourselves in underground racing, this is the month to do it.

***NOTE** This is an unsanctioned event. Everyone races at their own risk. LAPD or City of Los Angeles will not be present to escort or support. It is strictly underground (as it should be) and it is 100% Messenger approved!   Everyone is responsible for themselves and race at their own risk.

8th Annual DTLA GPX Crit#3 - Avenue of the Scars Results

 
Thank you everyone who came out this past Friday to Century City.  There was a very good turnout for the night.  The AVENUE OF THE SCARS course was designed by Eric Misfit CCBM (Century City Bike Messenger).  The 0.68 mile course circled the 2000 Constellation Building, very and sweet.  Road Bikes did a quick 3 laps.  Track Bikes did 13 laps.  Team Leader was out full force for the night, not to mention Bici Mensajero Safa, winner of this years WP CVC Crit!

8th Annual DTLA GPX Crit#2 - Bomb Adventure Results

Apologies for the late post.  Below are the results for Crit#2 of the DTLA Summer Series.  The Bomb adventure course was just under 1 mile long.  Roadies did a total of 13 laps.  Track bikes did 10 laps.  We had a couple out of towners and a lot of new young faces.  It's always good to see the youth show up in great numbers.  Not a surprise to us locals who would win the Road money pot.

8th Annual DTLA Grand Prix (Summer Race Series) Crit#3

The Originators of the infamous Downtown Los Angeles Criteriums, bring it back once again for the eighth year in a row. We'll be hitting 4 Courses this year (some klassik, some new).  This week we have joined forces with our extended family from the West (#CCBM - Century City Bike Messengers).  The course is quick and short.  It circles the Illuminati Building (2000 Constellation Blvd.)

Bicycle Messenger Coloring Book launch / Team ULOCKMOB Send off to Mexico DF

Everyone is invited this Thursday night (5/22/14) at La Cita ( 336 S. Hill St. LA, CA 90013) 6:00p - 10:00pm (no cover charge) for Scott Free's Bday and the launch of this beautiful limited edition Nahuatl Coloring book illustrated by Bicycle Messengers from the U.S and Japan. 

We are also a having a farewell party for our DTLA Messengers whom will be headed to Mexico City to partake in  The Cycle Messenger World Championship (CMWC 2014)! The U-Lock Mob will meet in Nochistlan and ride 400+ miles to the D.F Velodrome . The proceeds of this beautiful art book will fund the distribution of coloring books to kids along the way. 

It is Scott's hope to promote cycling as healthy way of life in the native languages disappearing in schools.
